ED INSTALLS: SUN TUNNELS
Sun Tubes or Tunnels have many different names. They are similar to skylights as they are installed on a roof deck. Sun tunnels are typically smaller than skylights. Skylights can range from 18” all the way up to several feet. The difference between the two is that skylights let the light pass directly through its surface and shine into the room below. Sun tunnels allow the sun to soak in through the top lens. Sun tunnels diffuse the light that it gathers and sends out a softer and glare free light on the other end. Sun tunnels efficiently harness the sun’s light and sends it into your living or office space without the added heat or glare. Sun tunnels collect the light and efficiently diffuse the glare. It makes a dark room appear naturally light. When a person quickly glances at a sun tunnel, they may think it is a real electrified recessed lighting mechanism. From the inside of your home, it looks like a recessed light in the ceiling and from the outside, sun tunnels have a low profile with a rounded border and their sizes are much more compact than that of a traditional skylight.
Sun tunnels have the benefit of being compact but can spread light wide in a room. Sun tunnels can be installed in closets to make dark closets or an attic suddenly filled with light. The magic of sun tunnels is that they keep a room bright even when the sun is not directly shining on top of the sun tunnel.
